1973 - Early Life

Born on April 24, 1973, in Mumbai's Nirmal Nursing Home to Ramesh and Rajni Tendulkar. Named after his father's favorite music director, Sachin Dev Burman. Grew up in the Sahitya Sahawas Cooperative Housing Society in Bandra East, Mumbai.

1984-1988 - Cricket Beginnings

Started playing cricket at the age of 11. His brother Ajit introduced him to coach Ramakant Achrekar at Shivaji Park. Attended Sharadashram Vidyamandir School and later moved to New English School. Made his debut for Bombay in the Ranji Trophy at age 15.

1989 - International Debut

Made his Test debut at 16 against Pakistan in Karachi. Showed immense courage facing legendary fast bowlers. This marked the beginning of a glorious 24-year international career.

1995 - Personal Life

Married Anjali Mehta, a pediatrician, on May 24, 1995. The couple has two children: Sara (born 1997) and Arjun (born 1999). Arjun has also pursued cricket professionally.

1990s-2000s - Peak Career

Dominated world cricket with consistent performances. Became the backbone of Indian batting. Achieved numerous records and milestones. Captained India in different periods and led them to multiple victories.

2011 - World Cup Victory

Achieved his lifelong dream of winning the ICC Cricket World Cup. India defeated Sri Lanka in the final at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. This was one of the most emotional moments of his career.

2013 - Retirement

Announced retirement from Test cricket on November 16, 2013, after playing his 200th Test match against West Indies at Wankhede Stadium. His farewell speech moved the entire nation. Had already retired from ODIs in 2012.
